A total of 120 units are required for the Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with the Accounting option. This option prepares students for careers in either Public Accounting, serving clients professionally in the areas of financial accounting, cost accounting, auditing, taxes and systems; or Managerial Accounting, dealing with the functions of the controller in a business firm, or an institutional or governmental agency; or internal auditing. The Business Administration major with an option in Accounting requires completion of 45 units in core courses and 27 units in the option. Students have 3 credit hours which are not designated. Students are strongly encouraged to take one additional class among the classes offered by the College of Business and Economics.Consult with an advisor for the specific number of units required in all areas of the degree including GE and free electives.:
Option Standards
I. To enroll in upper division accounting courses (except ACCT 3200AB), undergraduate students must have:
a. Completed the following courses:
b. Followed procedures specified by the Department of Accounting in the semester preceding enrollment in the first upper division accounting course (except ACCT 3200A , ACCT 3200B ).
II. Students in the accounting option must earn a grade of C or higher in all accounting courses and pass at least twelve units in upper division accounting classes at Cal State L.A.
